Textile Museum at Paithan

The process began by asking ourselves the ontological question- What is a Museum?

A museum according to my understanding is A place of Observation and Viewing- very occulocentric in nature.

A space of Learning which generates curiosity and becomes a Tourist Attraction as it highlights a part of the culture of that place. It becomes a Centre to preserve a culture/ a practice/ an art - passed down from generations and hence has the Responsibility to attract people to support/help in conservation of the craft

A ziggurat is a Mesopotamian temple- with a staggered form tapering as it goes higher

My initial idea came from trying to make the exhibit spaces to be interactive and to be able to look into each other in order to generate curiosity

And then further as the brief specified that we all need a g+3 structure , i did not want to make a linear floor like arrangement so then the idea of a ziggurat which is a mesopotamian temple - so it involves stacking but in a tapering manner so the area of the spaces keep decreasing as you go up and that also creates like these balcony spaces which become buffer between open and closed spaces which is a necessity in the hot and dry climate of paithan.
